2018 Maggie’s on the Runway

We are delighted to say that in 2018 Maggie's on the Runway event raised £225K for Maggie's Manchester.

Producer's Pick

To open our show we had to have something very spectacular, something to set the bar for the rest of the afternoon. Over six weeks we managed to transform these inspirational men and women, all who were worried, nervous and completely out of their depth into a tight crew of glamorous, confident super-models. All completely en-pointe and who delivered us a show-stopping performance! Modelling Coast and Slater's Menswear please welcome "Producer's Pick."

Hot Flush

Our catwalk was certainly on fire when 10 of our smokin' ladies strutted their stuff on the arm of our fabulous firemen from Manchester Airport.

Than you to House of Fraser for styling our lovely ladies.

Figleave beauties

We were literally blown away when 27 women put their brave pants on and took to the Concorde Catwalk in a powerful show of girl power, unity and strength. Each of these women have been affected by cancer and one thing they all had in common was the fact that they all had suffered devastating side-effects of the gruelling treatment. In addition, some have undergone radical surgery such as mastectomies and some have had major surgery in other parts of their bodies including illeostomy.

The invisible side-effect of cancer treatment is the loss of self confidence and self esteem, so getting up on a catwalk in front of a packed hanger of over 700 people wearing only swimwear or lingerie certainly takes a lot of guts. Our amazing catwalk features women living with breast cancer, ovarian cancer, bowel cancer and non-hodgkins lymphoma. This catwalk was part of the spectacular Maggie's on the Runway fashion show held at the Runway Visitor Centre, Manchester Airport. Around 80% of the women featured on the catwalk were living with breast cancer, so the aim of this catwalk was to remind women to engage in a regular programme of checking their breasts and to remind them wasn't just a disease that affected older women

Sponsored by the fabulous on-line retailer Figleaves and dedicated to Coppafeel heroine and boobette Alexandra Jones we gave these Manchester ladies their sparkle back and showed the world that there is beauty, fun and life after cancer.

"It was so much more than just a catwalk. May the Figleaves magic continue with this video. If it gives anyone out there with cancer a bit of hope, confidence then that’s fantastic xx" Louise Wheeler

"What an experience, nothing will ever beat that 5’ish mins of my life. Super proud to have been a part of that catwalk" Gill Bromley

"This has given me the confidence to get in this bikini and just walk to the pool, in fact I might just strut! Happy tears currently streaming down my face, we did it ladies, we did it." Diana Jennings

“So proud to have been a part of this amazing show...we all accomplished so much, grew together in confidence and showed the world what we are made of.”

Sue Nicklen

“I was nervous to begin with when I was asked to captain Figleaves and talk on the stage after about my experience. However, I am passionate about getting the message across about body screening so I just knew I had to throw myself into it. With the help of my good friend Jinnett and the encouragement of Margo wow did we pull it off. Seeing the confidence of the models grow over the weeks and the positivity and smiling faces of everyone on the catwalk will stay with me forever. One of the proudest moments of my life. Bring on MOTR 2019”

Mummy's and Daddy's Little Stars

A very special moment at Maggie's on the Runway was when some of our models were accompanied on to the catwalk with their children. The models were led by Jamie McHugh and his 4yr old daughter Freya in a touching tribute to Freya's mum Kellyanne who modelled for us in 2016 and who desperately wanted to relive this moment again with Freya. Kellyanne sadly passed away last August, so husband Jamie took her place. Thank you to Marks & Spencer for styling the children and to all the little ladies from Anne Finnegan Theatre School for their beautiful dancing!

Rick's Chick's & Chaps

A very special moment at our fashion show when our honorary ambassador Rick Astley serenaded 10 amazing women, all living with cancer down the Concorde Catwalk to his new single Beautiful Life.

Big thanks to Marks & Spencer for styling the ladies and to Slaters Menswear.

Magic Divas

Just because our ladies ladies love...... Patrick McBride, yes 10 very lucky ladies got to share the catwalk with a certain handsome fireman.

In his role as the iconic Milk Tray Man, Patrick McBride made sure that our yummy JD Williams models had a very sweet experience 🍫💕

Showcase Starlets

Our final catwalk for MOTR 2018 was the wonderful Starlets who entertained us with their showcase runway which starred an amazing four MOTR award winners.

Thanks to Next and Slaters for the gorgeous outfits.
